Greetings in the name of ‘Elohim Ozer Li” – God my help (Psalm 54:4) and in the name of Jesus Christ – THE Crucified and Risen Saviour! What an interesting morning ‘outside’ in the Kingdom – snowy and wet and slippery! I am glad there is sunshine out beyond all this! Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to grant travelling mercy as you move through the Kingdom and navigate the streets/roads.
I am still pondering the ideas shared recently about living in the prison cell after God has set me free and I was introduced to the lyrics:God, I admit I’ve loved these chains, and crawling round this cage has its advantages – Jars of Clay. I am prompted to think of a kind of spiritual ‘Stockholm syndrome’ where the things that hurt and harm – I’ve grown attached to…where it is hard to be happy when you are destroying yourself. As I pondered these things I was directed to the words of Jesus: “…Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand (will not prosper or grow or mature).” Matthew 12:25 NIV. Now the words of Jesus: “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:36 NIV begin to carry more weight.
This morning in my devotions I came across this quote: Remember, your spiritual life will develop only to the extent that you are prepared to expose your heart to the Word that is alive. Selwyn Hughes, ‘Every Day With Jesus’. It is, of course, the Word of God that protects and defends and debilitates and defuses when the enemy assaults us. It is the Word of God that cuts through human rationalization and self-deception. No wonder that we used to sing: The B-I-B-L-E, yes, that’s the book for me – I stand alone on the Word of God – The B-I-B-L-E — OR — Every promise in the Book is mine – Every chapter, every verse, every line – All the blessings of his love divine – Every promise in the Book is mine. I am sure that you remember another one or two, but the point is…no matter what – the Word of God is a sure foundation to nourish our freedom and promote growth.
Just a little something to think about — be blessed today!
