A Church with a Heart for our Community

March 16th Thursday

Greetings to you in the name of ‘the Light of the World’, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful morning in the Kingdom, the sunshine is so encouraging. Today is mid-point in the month – I trust that your journey through “Lent” is going well and that you are discovering insights about your relationship with Jesus and understanding more about yourself. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to release a revelation of  his presence at work in your life.

Yesterday God sent me a verse to ‘meditate’ upon. The verse says: “…I am not ashamed because I know Him and I have put my trust in Him. And I am fully certain that He has the ability to protect what I have placed in His care until that day {of His return}.” 2 Timothy 1:12 (VOICE). I have often sung those words and even quoted them as I gave someone encouragement but I had never spent time pondering them. In fact, I told God that and He gave me a rather sharp reply. He told me that I needed to act upon them. When I asked for clarification He reminded me that all too often when I place things in His care there are strings attached. As I began to protest, He interrupted me, “It isn’t that you have conditions or expectations or anything like that. You use the strings to pull back the things which you placed in my care when I don’t reply according to your time table. You seem to have a problem letting me be God.”

At this point, I had to nod my head in agreement. All too often I place ‘things’ – like personal needs or relationships or people problems or finances or health or things that are worrying me … into His care only to get impatient and take them back. I know that I am not alone in this area but God wanted to teach me a “Lenten Lesson” about myself and to remind me that I can trust Him for the long haul. I am sure that there will other revelations on the road but the travelling gets a little easier when you know that you can lay some burdens down and not have to pick them up again.

Have a great day – enjoy the journey!
