Greetings to you in the name of the Captain of Our Salvation, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a delightful morning…and it is supposed to get even better – awesome! I trust that you have had a good week – accomplished many of the items on your ‘to-do list’, enjoyed time with family and friends, had time for yourself, and experienced God’s particular blessing in your life. This is going to be a grand weekend with many surprises and adventures, so get ready. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to reveal himself to you in a way that you will understand – to give you fresh hope for the days ahead.
Although this is ‘New Release Friday’ – when the new music arrives – there was a free download of a song early in the week and I have been enjoying it. The song comes from an album called – Here I Am, Send Me by Darlene Zschech. The song – Beloved – is a sensitive blending of new and strong lyrics with an old favourite – When I Survey the Wondrous Cross. ‘Beloved’ is almost ten minutes long, although it doesn’t seem like it as there is no awkward interludes. It will be a good congregational song when used properly as well as an intimate setting for your quiet times.
I want to share two snippets of lyrics that really touched my heart. First – I will wait, for my trust is in the Lord – I will wait, Jesus you are my reward – As I wait, You reveal your majesty – In the silence, You are singing over me, “You are my beloved” and you will recognise the flavour of Zephaniah’s words being used. Second, the closing verse – I see Your people in a room – I hear a rushing sound – Every heart is drawn to Jesus – As Your Spirit pours out and since this song arrived after Pentecost Sunday, the connection to Acts 2 is there. The really neato-keeno part here is that one of my Christian brothers introduced me to a new-old song with a chorus that had these words – Pour out your Spirit – Pour out your Spirit – Pour out your Spirit on me (us). So when you put the two songs together…there is an opportunity for something beautiful to happen.
I am excited about Sunday and gathering with the family. It is “Trinity Sunday” and I know there is good music to sing and I know that God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, is going to be in attendance. As my friend, Scott says, “It may be Friday, but Sunday’s coming!”
Be blessed – enjoy the weekend!
