A Church with a Heart for our Community

June 8th Thursday

Greetings to you in the name of the One who is the same yesterday, today, and forever…Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! It seems that we are going to have to look around us at all the events that are affecting our world – wild fires, smoke in the air struggling economy, international conflict, political confusion – and simply declare that in spite of all that is not good and all that is out of our control…”this is the day that the Lord has made and we can rejoice and be glad in it!” I trust that you are sensing God’s presence around you in ways that perhaps only make sense to you.

I have been reading and learning about the spiritual discipline of prayer, which at times has been challenging. It has been interesting that every time, or almost every time, I discover a new insight God affirms it and validates it. This week I have been learning about approaching God from three “realms” or levels of prayer which has been an adventure for me… and one I was finding a little weird. However, when God wants to teach you something, He has the way and means to do so…and He reveals how what He is teaching can be put into use–right away.

Just to keep me learning, God decided to give me a verse to hang onto when I am discovering new approaches to prayer: “O my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive to all the prayers made to you in this place” (2 Chronicles 6:40 NLT). It seems that no matter what approach or technique or formula that we think is more effective or more user-friendly or “new” – God has the ability and desire to respond in ways that reveal to us His interest and unique approachableness.

Let me share some words and a prayer that God sent my way from a Dayspring devotional:

Press into Him now, and simply enjoy the fact that He is your closest companion, and He is actively and lovingly praying, moving, and working on your behalf.

Lord, thank You for Your promise to always be with me and that nothing can separate You from my life and my heart. I welcome You with full gratitude that You are watching over me and all that I face. Help me to keep my hope in You and not in any results I desire or tasks I need to accomplish. You are my way, my truth, and my life— nothing compares to the presence of Your tender touch of love that I feel.

Have a great day and be blessed!
