Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ, “the Alpha and Omega” (Revelation 22:13) – THE Crucified and Risen Saviour! What a beautiful morning in the Kingdom after the last few days . I trust that you had a great weekend…in spite of weather and a good Monday as well… and “Happy June!” Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to release purpose in your daily living and good health for your body and refreshment for your soul and hope for your mind.
I have been pondering the words to a new song…well I guess the words aren’t new, but the arrangement is, The song is called: “We Believe” by the Newsboys and is based on the Apostles Creed. The song begins with the line: In this hour of desperation – when all we know is doubt and fear – there is only one foundation – we believe, we believe The song, then carries on to the chorus that reflects the Apostles Creed with a good beat to it. Back in 1987, the band R.E.M. had a hit song and a line from the chorus went like this: It’s the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine… Two songs, from different worlds and times that lead us, as Christian believers, back to the foundation of our faith.
I am so pleased that though life gets complicated and challenging the good news of Jesus Christ is still relevant. I can listen to all sorts of theories and philosophies about prophetic events – end of the world teachings – dire warnings …all from within the church – the good news is that Jesus Christ is still relevant. I can watch the news and read the reports from around the world–we are in a mess but the good news is that Jesus Christ is still relevant. Therefore, when I preach or teach or witness the message of the gospel – Jesus Christ dying to save sinners, Jesus Christ rising from death – is still relevant and powerfully so.
We believe in God the Father – We believe in Jesus Christ – We believe in the Holy Spirit – And He’s giving us new life – We believe in the crucifixion – We believe that He conquered death – We believe in the resurrection – And that He’s coming back again – We believe … the Newsboys. Perhaps the R.E.M. song is right…It’s the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine! I thank God for theology that I can sing!
Blessings on you!
