A Church with a Heart for our Community

June 22nd Thursday

Greetings to you in the name of the One who can provide us with … living water, the bread of life, and a wild hope, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! It is another one of “those” days – a made expressly for you day and I trust that you will discover all that God has prepared for you. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to activate all of your ‘senses’ so that you will…taste, see, hear, smell, and touch the presence of the Creator.

I have been receiving daily prayer topics in regards to praying for Muslim countries during Ramadan and for the Christian community – at first I found it educational and insightful. However as I learned more and more about situations – the persecution, the danger, the challenge – it seemed so hopeless. At the end of each email there are some strong words of advice and truths to keep before me. I want to share them with you so that when you are listening to news reports of terrorism, war, conflict, and the plight of refugees you understand your obligation and privilege.

There is no person – no policy – no war strategy that will bring an end to this conflict because the real battle isn’t even in the physical realm. The real battle is in the spiritual realm against ‘principalities and powers’ (Ephesians 6:12). Therefore it must be fought with spiritual weapons. PRAY. The world may have given up, but God has not. He will not be expelled. His Truth will prevail and He will gain the victory.

For more than a 150 years the church has been singing – Onward Christian Soldiers – but I think we may have forgotten that that is our mandate. Imagine we can join the battle right here in our corner of the world by praying every day – peace for our world, wisdom for world leaders, God’s hand on the ordinary people trying to live normal lives, for God to release supernatural forces of goodness-grace-mercy, for the hearts of mankind to be softened, and for humility mixed with self-restraint.

Blessings on you! Enjoy your day! Be thankful for the peace and freedom in your world!
