A Church with a Heart for our Community

June 11th Friday

Greetings to you in the powerful, life-transforming, go-to, invigorating, and wonderful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior!  I was just wondering…what name would you give to Jesus that would describe your personal experience? Well, this looks like a beautiful morning in the Kingdom – and it must be the day that the Lord has made for us to rejoice and be glad in! This morning I will be praying for you, asking Father to give you the desires of your heart as you delight in Him…and may He bring peace – His “shalom-peace” – to you in abundance.

Just a quick thought on this end of the week. I have been pondering “our verse”…you know it well – Jeremiah 29:11. I am not sure if I can share anything that you haven’t already thought about, so I’ll give a simple reminder. I was actually looking at another verse when God seem to make a connection for me. The verse says…At each and every sunrise you will hear my voice as I prepare my sacrifice of prayer to you. Every morning I lay out the pieces of my life on the altar and wait for your fire to fall upon my heart. – Psalm 5:3  TPT.

It dawned on me that so often when I think of the plans that He has for my life, I seem to focus on the “big” plans He has. You know – life-altering, major problem-solving, life and death sort of plans. However, when I look at my Psalm life-verse what I really want is to know the small plans, the daily plans that affect my life and cause my heart to feel the ‘fire’ of being just where I need to be.

As much as I want to know about the big plans…it is the daily handful of plans – the people I will interact with, the places that I will go, and the words that I will be able to speak at just the right time that will be of most importance. Could it be that when Jeremiah 29:11’s words are spoken that that is was God is most concerned about? Hasn’t our present life situation been created by God’s plans being released in moments of the past that were really the plans for a future and a hope that we are living in right now?

When I read the words…”wait for your fire to fall upon my heart” – I am reminded of the two travelers who were walking to Emmaus and had an encounter with Jesus. As you remember, He had to explain to them how the plans of the past were at work in the present…and that brought His fire to their hearts. It is as if they were being told that the “big” plans that were in their thoughts were really a collection of countless daily plans over the years. When I think about it…the major plan moments that I have looked for were a result of the accumulative impact of many daily plans.

I think that God was, and is, wanting me to be more focused on putting the daily pieces of my life on the altar than to get caught up looking at the “big” plans. This makes me think of a song…of course it does! – We have thses moments to hold in our hands-and to watch as they slip through our fingers like sand-yesterday’s gone and tomorrow may never come-but we have these moments today! – Bill & Gloria Gaither.

Something to think about!  –  have a blessed day!
