Greetings to you in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful summer morning in the Kingdom – let us rejoice in it and be glad! I trust that your week is unfolding as a grand adventure and that you are experiencing a “serendipity” or two as you follow God’s leading. Today I will be praying for, asking Father to speak clearly and distinctly so that you may hear the voice of the Good Shepherd…may you find delight in that experience.
Yesterday I had a conversation with an old friend who is also my optometrist. As we shared our personal travel-log of the past year, I shared that I had been in in a weekly prayer group for the past dozen years that was praying for our city and our county…sometimes in general and many times quite specific. His reply was: “Twelve years…is it making a difference?” My quick reply was to affirm that is has made a difference…and continues to do so. I said that the accumulative effect of intercession has impacted our city-county in many ways – from new churches and ministries being established, new industry and businesses setting up shop, and city development…and then there were a number of individuals and families that received healing-restoration-God’s intervention. Now just as I was getting warmed up he simply smiled and changed the subject.
Did I mention that my friend is a person of faith, has a good community spirit, is a respected professional, and had been a regular church attender? However something happened in his faith journey and his ‘fire’ has abated and he is very sceptical and a little critical. I tried to determine what was going on so that I could speak a few words of life and encouragement but the moment was gone.
My friend is a member of a contingent of people who are classified as “used-to-be’s” and they are people we pray for virtually every week in our prayer group. They are harder to touch with God’s grace because they have been paying attention to the lies of the Accuser and he is persistently sneaky. I suppose that is why we keep praying for – REVIVAL! … if every “used-to-be” in our city-county got spiritually zapped and revived, can you imagine the impact that would have? My friend might say…maybe you might say, even just to yourself…impossible! However, every Monday noon-hour there is a gathering of “prayerers” who believe and expect God-the master of impossibilities to respond. He is the ultimate “First Responder” !
Something to ponder…be blessed and start praying for any “used-to-be’s” that you know.
