A Church with a Heart for our Community

January 31st – Wednesday

Greetings to you in the beautiful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! I trust that all is well in your world and that you are experiencing God’s presence and daily provision.

I have been reading a chapter of Proverbs a day and it has been very interesting. I had read that Billy Graham had done this for many years, so I thought it might be good for me too! I must say that before I even started there were questions in my mind.Is there really that much content to justify reading a chapter a day as some sort of reading plan? Is there any real relevance to today? How much did I already know  about this God-inspired (2 Timothy 3:16) book?

Well, let me say…there is a lot of content to deal with, the message is very relevant, and I really knew very little about this book…but I intend to learn. I have been using a recent translation – The Passion Translation – in my reading and so even the familiar verses take on a new perspective. I usually turn away from my reading with one verse, even one phrase from a verse to reflect on. However, last week God saw fit to plant a part of a verse in my mind and then let it sit there challenging me to know it well.

The phrase is this: Know the importance of the season that you are in…Proverbs 10:5  TPT. Now that phrase has been before me like a Rubik’s cube and I have twisted it – turned it – stared at it – left it alone … as I tried to grasp the meaning for me. I decided to simply wait for God to give further insight and so – this morning He decided to add another dimension by sending a verse to me. This is what He gave me: There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven…Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV.

It seems like I need to spend some time with God deciphering what ‘season’ I am in. I thought that reading Proverbs was going to be a simple exercise.

Have a great day – be blessed!
