Greetings in the name of the ‘All-sufficient one’, Jesus Christ – THE Crucified and Risen Saviour! What a delightful morning in the kingdom! I trust that all is well in your corner of the world…and that you are turning your attention to the days ahead! There has been so much happening in our world — and like it or not we get caught in the frenzy of emotions that go with it. I will be praying for you today, asking Father to help you find a quiet place to meet with Him and be refreshed.
We are almost halfway through the first month of the year…so, let me ask – how are you doing? No quick answers required. Be honest. One of several special portions of Scripture for me is Ecclesiastes 3…you know – “There is a time for everything…God has placed eternity in the hearts of man” and I am understanding that this is rather a disquieting portion of teaching. It seems to suggest that life is about “change” and the fact that God has created us to be “restless” and wanting to ”change” even though we say – “No!” In the past day or so, I have received several devotions, teachings, and articles about “change” and I am believing God is putting down some ‘breadcrumbs’ to follow.
I am simply going to put forth a few one-liners (maybe a two-liner) to light your creative fire: “most of us are interested in change”…”God wants us to change”…”A life that is never willing to change is a great tragedy – a wasted life”…”Change is a necessary part of a growing life”…”We need change in order to remain fresh and to keep progressing.” These are pretty easy to handle…but we know from experience that because we don’t like to “change”, “that God has to get our attention”…”We have a tendency to hang on – long and hard to values and ideas that hold us back”…”we need to wake up, so that we can change direction.”
Some of you know that this is where and when God allows “crisis” to be introduced to our lives. “There is nothing like crisis to expose the otherwise hidden truth of the soul”…”we may mas it, ignore it, pass it off…, …denial”…”If we are experiencing a crisis right now, it is because God is getting ready to change us for the better.” Now here is the pivotal truth: “We never change until we get fed up with our current situation, until we get uncomfortable and discontented and start feeling miserable. When we become uncomfortable and miserable enough, we are finally motivated to let God do something in our lives…We won’t change until our fear of change is exceeded by the pain (crisis) we are experiencing.” Rick Warren
Something to think about…be blessed!
