Greetings in the wonderful name of Jesus – THE Risen Saviour! Wow – what a ‘windy-ful’ day in the kingdom! I trust that you have had a good week and experienced the goodness of God in a variety of ways. Now…are you looking forward to the weekend and gathering with the church family to see what God has in store for us as we worship and fellowship? Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to release all that you need from His generous hand and that He would allow he Spirit to overflow in your soul.
I came across a rather interesting Bible verse. It is the first reference in the Bible to a spiritual discipline. In Genesis 24:63 we read..He (Isaac) went out to the field one evening to meditate… and there we have the first time ‘meditate’, and therefore the spiritual discipline of meditation,is mentioned in scripture. You, of course, know that I prefer the word “pondering” to meditation. I am aware that there are some who think meditation is another word for “worry” and there are some who think meditation is part of some foreign religious practice.
I suppose that one of the key verses to consider is: Be still and know that I am God… Psalm 46:10. but what is the value of meditation or pondering. I like this brief description: As we meditate, God guides and changes our thoughts, helps us process our griefs and sorrows, enables us to soak up the wonder of His greatness, and prepares us for what He has planned for us. – Robert J. Morgan. I think it is Winnie the Pooh who uses the phrase…”I am going to have a big think about…”. So, whatever the terminology – “meditation” is a good thing to do…and perhaps not done enough.
Just a little someting to ponder today…be blessed!
