Greetings to you in the name of ‘Heaven’s Champion’, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful Groundhog Day in the Kingdom – sun, blue skies, clouds, no sun, snow, no snow, shadows, no shadows – and I wonder what is to happen next? Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to make his presence known to you in a particular moment…maybe catching you off-guard…to touch you with his love and grace and gentle power.
Yesterday was one of those days when God decided to guide my reading and therefore my thoughts. He did it by sending me a new book – and I appreciate a new book as much as a new music. Although I just started to read – first 22 pages – I have skimmed ahead because it has quotes inserted in bold print at various places…and I simply want to share a few with you. The title is – Dirty Glory…go where your best prayers take you – and it is written by Pete Greig. Pete is founder of the 24-7 Prayer Movement and a pastor and a teacher.
Here are a few quotes to ponder: “Without prayer there will be no renewal of the church, and without a renewal of the church, there is very little hope for the world” – Justin Welby (Archbishop of Canterbury)
Your relationship with God is at its best when you talk to him about trivia. An attitude of gratitude grows from a daily conversation with him.
One of the most dangerous prayers you can ever pray: “Let my heart be broken by the things that break the heart of God.”
We often invite the Holy Spirit to come to our meetings, but it’s a different thing entirely when he invites us to attend one of his.
Pray with ambition. Pray with imagination. There is no better measure of the person you are becoming than the way you are praying right now.
The heart and soul of true Christian faith is not dogma, not culture, not behaviour, but an encounter with the living God.
Be still, and know that I am God – Psalm 46:10a … I pause now to become more aware of your presence in the stillness of this moment. Grant me epiphanies of the ordinary today–glimpses of your presence in the places I go, the people I meet, the routines things I do. Teach me to perceive and receive your presence in all things. Amen
Your power in prayer flows from an inner certainty that the One who made you likes you. He is not scowling at you. He is on your side.
May you enjoy God’s presence today!
