A Church with a Heart for our Community

December 15th Friday

Greetings to you in the name of the ‘One who came to wash our red as scarlet sins and make us white as snow’, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a lovely morning in the Kingdom…and no snow to shovel – as of yet! I trust that you have had a good week and are looking forward to a weekend of God’s delights and interventions. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to release – health, strength, and a happy heart to your inner – “inbox” … and may His wrap-around presence encourage you.

Once again I have been listening to Christmas music and enjoying a blend of old favourites and some good contemporary selections. However I haven’t listened to my favourite as yet – well, I actually have two: ‘In the bleak mid-winter’ and ‘If we make it through December’. The song – In the bleak mid-winter – is a musical adaptation of a Christmas poem written by Christina Rossetti … and is full of hope and love. The song – If we make it through December – is a heart cry of lament from a man who is having trouble making ends meet, financially, at Christmas time. There have been a few times when I didn’t have the resources – emotionally and physically, so I understand that song.

I can’t remember when it was exactly, but God began to change my perspective and I started to experience the ‘mystery and majesty’ of His Christmas miracles…not the big ones where He shows off but the countless array of small ones that add peace, purpose, and pleasure to each day. I suppose that is why I am enjoying (don’t tell anyone) all the Christmas movies. A line in the song – ‘In the bleak mid-winter’ – states…”Our God cannot hold Him”, and that is why miracles happen here on earth. Oddly enough it took watching those Christmas movies to allow me to see how simple a miracle can be and yet how powerfully practical.

Let me encourage you during this Christmas season to expect and look forward to miracles…maybe watch one of those ‘Hallmark’ – Christmas movies or sing your favourite carol/hymn or visit with family/friends or do some Christmas baking. I believe and declare that because “Our God cannot hold Him” – you are going to experience and begin to expect…Christmas miracles, and you will make it through December —  and January, February, March …

Have a great weekend and be blessed!
