A Church with a Heart for our Community

August 5th Wednesday

Greeting to you in the name of Jesus Christ – The Risen Saviour! and what a Saviour He is…compassionate, kind, available, encouraging, healing, and powerful! What a beautiful day God  created and blessed us with – let us rejoice and be glad! This morning I am praying for you, asking Father to bend His ear toward you so that He may hear the cry of your heart. Then having heard you, may He respond in a way that reveal His presence to you.

This morning I was drawn to the verse of Scripture that says…but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God. – 1 Samuel 30:6 KJV. This phrase is strategic in its timing and one has to understand the context, but that is for another time. David knew, instinctively I believe, that what he needed could not be supplied by no other person…he needed God. Have you ever had those moments when you just knew that God was who you needed?

So, this morning as I began my devotion-time, I simply whispered…God could you please encourage me? Then I waited to be surprised…it is always best to leave the details to him. I read my Scripture and a devotional and then a prayer…in the midst of the reading, God steps in with a few sentences and a thought to guide my day – to encourage me. So, read these words…God creates mankind for intimacy with himself, as His Beloved … God will fight for his Beloved. Say this to yourself: I live in a Love Story. I am deeply and profoundly loved. Linger as you repeat it a couple of times. Notice how your heart responds.

I begin to sense that love…and deep calls unto deep – it is a little like a Popeye cartoon. In a moment of great need…to face Bluto and save Olive Oyl, Popeye squeezes a can of spinach and eats the contents and suddenly muscles/strength appear and the battle is won. Strange is it not that one can find encouragement from a children’s song…Jesus loves, this I know-For the Bible tells me so! So I head into my day, telling myself…you are deeply, profoundly loved by God! Why not try that for yourself, you are His Beloved, deeply and profoundly loved by Him!

Something to ponder – have a blessed day!
