Greetings to you in the name of the One who was sent to redeem us, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Another “warm” morning in the Kingdom and a few clouds forewarning us of unsettled weather – what an interesting way to start a weekend! I trust that you have had a positive week with adventures, divine appointments, and unexpected delights from Father’s hand. I will be praying for you today, asking Father to release “health, and strength and happy hearts” to you in ways that you can understand and respond to.
I want to give you some encouragement this morning using the words of two songs. First, pay attention to these words: One more time, Jesus lifts my heavy burdens – One more time, He lightens up my load – In the night of deep despair, my faith keeps telling me He’s there – Waiting to answer our prayers, one more time … The Taylors. Isn’t that true in your experience?
And because that is a truth we can sing: I’m gonna make it, He’s already said that I would – I’ll keep on trusting, that He’s working everything for my good – He walks beside me, and heaven is in my view – Oh-h-h, I’m gonna make it through … The Taylors. Isn’t that a great testimony to give?
We are so blessed by God to have musicians that can sing songs that very often express the feelings and ideas that are trapped in our hearts. As with any expression of what is buried in our longings — a song, a slogan, a ‘bullet’ message on a hashtag or tweet or whatever – a thought on a poster … it is important to try and live out what is being communicated.
I think of a man who came for prayer. He had his Bible with him and on the Bible cover were these words: Know God – Know Peace. His prayer request netted out to needing peace. I began to pray asking that my friend would come back to a knowledge of God. He stopped me in mid-sentence saying that He already knew God. I pointed to his Bible cover…and continued on in a brief prayer When I finished, he prayed a simple surrender to restoring his relationship with God…and as he prayed I watched a peace come over him.
I wonder what we are communicating to others when we pass along words from a song or a special quote or a cute saying?
Something to think about – have a great weekend – be a blessing – receive a blessing!
