Greetings to you in the name of the One who stands before your heart’s door and knocks, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a lovely summer’s day and praise God for the senses that He has given us so that we can appreciate it. This morning I will be praying for you, asking Father to tend to the needs of your family, especially that needs that bring concern to your thoughts.
This morning my devotional reading touched on being in God’s hands…for protection, for TLC, for discipline, for guidance, and for security. “In God’s hands” – it started to stir my thoughts and I started to recall songs and choruses that used that phrase… “He’s got the whole world in His hands” and “In the hands of God” and “He touched me” and “Sacred hands of Jesus” and “I’m in His hands” , but one of my favourites was written by Dallas Holm…Jesus got a hold of my life and He won’t let me go – Jesus got into my heart and into my soul ….
I took all these thoughts with me to a spiritual exercise … spending ten minutes in His presence with no particular agenda , no words or prayers or reading or music. I think Jesus refers to this as “watching”. As the quietness of those minutes cascaded over me I sensed His voice whispering..“I have you with a “double grip”!” Not completely sure what this meant, I let me time of quiet do what it would do. I returned to my desk and searched for a Scripture passage to clarify the whisper that I had heard.
Jesus says, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all: no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hands. I and the Father are one.” John 10:27- 30 NIV. Wow! we are held in a “double grip” – the hand of Jesus and the hands of the Father. Indeed, Jesus got hold of my life…your life too…and He won’t let me…or us…go
Now there’s something to ponder today…be blessed!.
