Greeting to you…follower of the One who knows where to lead us, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! Wow! not only is this a beautiful morning in the Kingdom but – “this is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it!” I trust that all is well in your corner of life and that you are aware of each blessing you receive….may you enjoy them! Today I will be praying for you, asking Father – to bless you and keep you, to smile upon you and give you peace, to look at you face to face, and to provide you with all that you need to enjoy your day.
This morning, for whatever reason I was doing a bit of time travel! I found myself in a Sunday evening service as the invitation to come to Jesus was gently and passionately being given. There at the front of the little sanctuary was a “mercy seat” – a simple little wooden bench – a place for prayer, a place to publicly declare that you had a need, a place to declare that there was a “Someone” you could interact with, a place where the wooden bench glistened with the glory of tear stains. There was, of course, the sound of music and words being sung that seemed to be just for me:
Is there a heart o’erbound by sorrow?
Is there a life weighed down by care?
Come to the cross, each burden bearing;
All your anxiety—leave it there.
All your anxiety, all your care,
Bring to the mercy seat, leave it there,
Never a burden He cannot bear,
Never a friend like Jesus!
No other friend so swift to help you,
No other friend so quick to hear,
No other place to leave your burden,
No other one to hear your prayer.
Come then at once, delay no longer! – Heed His entreaty kind and sweet; – You need not fear a disappointment, – You shall find peace at the mercy seat.
And as I listened…I quietly and confidently walked to the front of the sanctuary and knelt at the “mercy seat” with my anxiety and care and burdens. I must confess that tears came to fall on that bench, glistening in the light of Jesus’ glorious presence…and I knew they would leave a stain that would declare that another soul found the peace of surrender and experienced a “victory” at the “mercy seat”. As I stood to leave, I found myself kneeling once again, but this time it was to pray for you!
Have a great day—God has a blessing for you!
