A Church with a Heart for our Community

August 21st Friday

Greetings to you – redeemed, forgiven, and restored by Almighty God – in the beautiful, wonderful, and powerful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Once again I want to declare…This is the day (and what a day it is) that the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it! It is also a Friday…another week has slipped away and I trust that it has been a good one for you with many blessings and “God-incidences” to encourage you. I will be praying for you today, asking Father to let you experience his wrap-around presence so that you have been strengthened, guided, and protected.

This morning I am drawn to these words…But you are God’s chosen treasure–priests who are kings, a spiritual “nation” set apart as God’s devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience his marvelous light, and now he claims you as his very own. He did this so that you would broadcast his glorious wonders through out the world. 1 Peter 2:9 TPT.  What an awesome promise and job description, but I linger on the designation “priest”. We don’t often think about that role, but we should.

According to the rules and regulations of the Old Testament only a priest – a Levite – was given the responsibility of carrying the Ark of the Covenant…”God’s presence” – and not just in the Old Testament but “forever”. Now, seeing as you and I, because of our relationship with Jesus Christ through salvation are given the designation of “priests” – that means we have the responsibility of carrying the presence of God. When we do that we bring light, His light, into the darkness of the world…and we communicate the power of God to the world.

No wonder we are called…God’s chosen treasure! We must not question our value or say that we do not have a purpose or that we are ‘just’ ___________. You and I carry the presence of God through the indwelling Holy Spirit into a world that needs the light, the peace, the hope, and the joy that God can give.

Something to ponder over the weekend…be blessed!
