Greetings to you in the name of the name of our Good Good Father and His Son, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! I trust that you have had an interesting week that has left you thanking God for meeting your needs, granting you a safe journey through all that you faced, bringing the right people into your life at just the right time, and revealing to you the beauty of His creation. Today I will be praying for, asking Father to prepare you for the gathering of the family of faith to praise-pray-fellowship-ponder His word.
I came across a couple of quotes from the man who introduced the idea of ‘bank holidays’ to the world, and I wanted to share them with you: A day of worry is more exhausting than a week of work … what we see depends mainly on what we are looking for … Sunsets (and sunrises too) are so beautiful that they almost seem as if we were looking through the gates of Heaven — Sir John Lubbock. Now take a moment to roll those thoughts around in your spirit.
I have been doing a 90 day devotional – Live Love Lead … Brian Houston, and I am on my second time through because it has been so challenging and informative. Brian Houston is founder and global senior pastor of Hillsong Church and is involved in developing leaders. This week he has been looking at church growth and in looking at two particular churches, one that was growing and one that wasn’t. The contrast was…one was honouring the past but building for the future while the other had no vision for the future and was trying to rekindle the past. So I have been thinking…honour the past or try to rekindle the past – what a dilemma.
Again I find myself drawn to the words of Scripture – I am God and I do not change — Behold I do a new thing – Sing a new song – old things are gone and the new has come – new every morning are his mercies – a new heaven and a new earth – you will have a new name … We have been praying for ‘revival’ for a l-o-n-g time and I wonder if we are trying to rekindle our past with a model that was really powerful and innovative in that time. Maybe we need a new vision of what a 2017 revival could look like. The message of Jesus Christ is timeless and it is just as relevant today as it ever was – “we have a message that matches the hour!” … goes the song. I wonder what a 2017 revival would look like?
Have a great weekend! Be blessed!
