Greetings in the wonderful, beautiful, and powerful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! He affirms you as…approved, accepted, and loved by Almighty God! This is the day that God has made for us…and we will rejoice and be glad in it! I trust that you have had a good week…but what are one or two highlights of the week – where did God show up or show-off? I hope that you are anticipating a weekend of special blessings and the opportunity to worship with the church family…and maybe even a special God-moment. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to release the infilling of Holy Spirit, a healing touch, maybe even a divine appointment.
I came across a verse of Scripture and one word in particular that took me on an investigative journey. The verse reads like this…For here is what the LORD has spoken to me: Because you have delighted in me as my great lover, I will greatly protect you. I will set you in a high place, safe and secure before my face. I will answer your cry for help every time you pray, and you will find and feel my presence even in your time of pressure and trouble. I will be your glorious hero and give you a feast. You will be satisfied with a full life and with all that I do for you. For you will enjoy the fullness of my salvation. – Psalm 91:14-16 TPT.
The word that caught my attention was – “delighted.” The word ‘delight’ appears over 110 times in Scripture and is sued to describe our relationship toward God and to describe God’s response to us…we delight in Him or He delights in us. In defining ‘delight’ there appears to be two ideas…[1] to bend toward and [2] to take pleasure in. Now those are two good definitions and if you spend a little time with them an interesting, but limited image is created. So I went looking to see how ‘delight’ might be defined and/or presented with synonyms and such.
So here goes … ‘delight’ – to charm, to enchant, to captivate, to bewitch, to thrill, to excite, to take one’s breath away, to gratify, to gladden, to relish, to revel in, and to savor. Next I went back to my two applications…I delight in God and God delights in me … and I tried putting different words in place. Now I read – God takes my breath away, but can I take His breath away? Yes, I think I can – when He sees me bowing before him in surrender or repentance. God captivates me, but can I captivate him? Well, I must because when He created me , He said…This is good! Yes, I think I take pleasure in him and He takes pleasure in me…but what a difference when I say that God excites me and I excite Him!
Why not take a moment or two with God right now – how does He ‘delight’ you? What a word or phrase or idea comes to you? Now turn that around…you do the same for Him! He savors you…you thrill him…He relishes your presence-prayers-praise.
Something to think about on a Friday … have a blessed day!
