A Church with a Heart for our Community

April 7th Tuesday

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ, “the Lamb of God who carries our sins away” – THE Crucified and Risen Saviour! I trust that you had a blessed and happy Easter weekend with family and friends and with yourself…and with God. There were many prayers answered over the weekend and we can rest with assurance that –  He who began this good work will bring it to completion. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to release the wind of the Holy Spirit  across the glowing embers of the weekend and cause a deeper, brighter fire to flame up.

Although the Easter weekend has passed, according to the Bible we are to be on the move…towards God. In Leviticus 23:15-16 we are to be counting off each day as we prepare for Pentecost – the Festival of Weeks, the Spring Harvest. Interestingly, God implies that each day is to be counted…each day is important and to be valued, and the days are counted forwards and not backwards. I came across a further insight, since the counting begins at Passover and the low point in their spiritual journey – the challenge is to move higher, to climb closer to God, and become more obedient. For us as Christians the challenge is similar because we are leaving Calvary and the depth of our sin that required such a sacrifice…and we are moving to Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit — a high point of spiritual pilgrimage.

So, today as I journey onward and upward there is a quote to share with you. Parker Palmer says: “On the spiritual journey…each time a door closes, the rest of the world opens up. All we need to do is stop pounding on the door just closed, turn around–which puts the door behind us–and welcome the largeness of life that now lies open to our souls.” Easter is a season of new beginnings–perhaps closing the door on a part of our life that us brought us into some ‘deep place’ –so that we can begin an ‘upward journey’ to a high place with God. This is a time to get serious about God’s word and its amazing power to lift us up. “Life may get you down but God never intended you to stay there” – Joyce Meyer.

I want to share a prayer that was in my daily devotions this morning: God, I don’t need some physical manifestation to believe You are real and doing something in my life. I trust You to take me to the next level spiritually, and I freshly surrender myself to You. I give You permission to touch me however, whenever and wherever. Do what You will in and through me. – Bill Johnson, “Hosting The Presence Every Day.

Have a blessed day!
