A Church with a Heart for our Community

April 22nd Thursday

Greetings to you in the beautiful, wonderful, and powerful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! What a beautiful Spring morning in the Kingdom! And yes, “this is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and we will be glad in it!” I am believing that God wants to surprise us today with a blessing or two that we weren’t expecting. I wonder what He has in store for us this day…an answered prayer, a divine interruption, an anointed visitor, a door opening, an encouraging telephone call, or maybe a door closing? This morning I will be praying for you, asking Father to open your eyes to the wonder of His presence…may you be strengthened…may you be guided and directed…may you be healed…may you be restored and refreshed…and may you hear the whisper of His voice.

There is a struggle going on in our lives…and most of the time we are not even aware of it. It is the struggle between faith and trust. that is reveled in our submission to His will. All too often we pray about our concerns, decisions. and requests with a predetermined idea of what the answer should be…or what we want it to be. Our faith is in who we understand God to be from our personal experience with Him. Our trust comes from watching Him work in our lives according to who He says He is and what He will and won’t do.

This morning in our devotions we were reminded that God said of Himself that He opens doors for us…and He closes doors for us. We really like open doors…those moments when everything seems to go our way or at least the way we expected. However, when God closes a door, when things are working right, when He goes against what we think is supposed to right…there we are standing at a closed door knocking and knocking. Faith can be easy until it involves trusting. Faith is not about taking action that is the role of trust.

I have been on the journey long enough now to understand that God’s way is always best…even when I don’t understand and even when it is counterintuitive. I am drawn to a  few words of advice: Since we have this confidence, we can also have great boldness before him, for if we present any request agreeable to his will, he will hear us. 1 John 5:14 TPT.

Faith in a person is validated by the trust that is expressed through submission that is revealed in my response. Trust is challenging and complicated but so powerful. The struggle between faith and trust is an ongoing one that is only resolved through a hundred breakthroughs and victories. However, I am absolutely positive that when we pray…God hears – and when God hears…He answers! The question for me is…do I have the faith to trust His answer?

Something to think about…have a blessed day!
