A Church with a Heart for our Community

April 15th Thursday

Greetings to you…”salt of the earth”…in the powerful, attractive, and life-enhancing name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! What a different morning in the Kingdom – and yet…”this is the day that the Lord has made and we must rejoice and be glad in it!” I trust that you have been enjoying the opportunity to be outside, enjoy a little sunshine, feel the freshness of Spring air, do a little yardwork, go for a walk and perhaps finding time to “chill with God!” Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to encourage you with His grace and mercy…may He create divine appointments with family and friends…may He infuse you with health, strength, and a happy heart…may He release his healing touch on your body-mind-spirit.

This morning I came across a good quote and a simple exercise of personal reflection. The quote came from Henry Ford: If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you always got. The reflection exercise – labelled a “lockdown reflection” consists of four questions: what have you found that you want to keep? – what have you found that you want to lose? – What have you lost that you want to find? – what have you lost that you are happy to bury? The response can be very superficial or they can be a little deep…but they need to be personal.

And…I know it is not Friday – “New Music Friday” – but I came across a new song, intended for Easter, by one of my new  favorite groups…City Alight. The song is titled – “It was finished upon that cross.” One of the verses spoke to my heart in particular: Boldly I approach my Father – Clothed in Jesus’ righteousness – There is no more guilt to carry – It was finished upon the cross. I appreciate that so much of our theology is expressed through music and song…and this verse speaks volumes for me.

And God gave me a verse of Scripture to ponder as I journey through this day: “…For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You.” 2 Chronicles 20:12 NIV. As I consider this verse I found myself singing in my spirit – Turn your eyes upon Jesus – Look full in His wonderful face – And the things of earth will go strangely dim – In the light of His glory and grace.

Just a few rambling thoughts to ponder…have a blessed day!
