Greetings to you on this Maundy Thursday 2017 – in the name of the “Suffering Servant”, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Isn’t great to see the sun shining through the clouds and the beads of moisture sparkling on the grass and newly arriving tree buds? I trust that all is well with you and yours as the beauty of Easter grabs hold of your heart-mind-spirit. I know there is much to do, both anticipated and surprise items on the schedule…but – make sure you find quiet moments to reflect on what this Easter weekend means to you, personally. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to reveal afresh the plans He had and has for you…salvation and sanctification…to give you a future and a hope!
I shall give you…and me two pieces of direction as we head into this weekend. They come from one of my new friends that I haven’t actually met but he writes really good books!
First, much of Christmas’ (Easter’s) beauty is in its sameness. The same traditions. The same meals. The same songs. The same story. Yet each Christmas (Easter) is a little different – Calvin Miller, The Christ of Christmas: Readings For Advent. I know what you are thinking…one shouldn’t mix up two seasons but I really like the thought…Every Easter should be different for a number of different reasons. We are not the same people that we were a year ago and our understanding and responses are different.
Something to think about – enjoy the weekend – be blessed!
