A Church with a Heart for our Community

August 4th Thursday

Greetings to you in the name of the Anointed One, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Wow! A beautiful morning and another very warm day coming to us…a day to lay down in green pastures and rest beside still waters! I will be praying for you today, asking Father to fulfil the promise of Psalm 121:5-6…The LORD watches over you — the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.  NIV.

This morning, in the midst of a conversation about how God is answering or not answering prayers – God gave me something to ponder. When we are praying for those family and friends who are, or seem to be, avoiding the life of faith it can get a little discouraging. Yet, God’s Word suggests an answer to prayer for prayer that we don’t often consider. Although He may not be sending the finances or healing the body or creating the employment situation or intervening in a strained relationship – His hand of protection and defense is there.

Consider these words: The LORD will keep you from all harm– he will watch over your coming (to him) and your going (away from him) both now and forevermore. Psalm 121:7,8 NIV … A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you – For he will command angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.  Psalm 91:7, 11 NIV …We’ve been surrounded and battered by troubles, but we’re not demoralized; we’re not sure what to do, but we know that God knows what to do; we’ve been spiritually terrorized, but God hasn’t left our side; we’ve been thrown down, but we haven’t broken – 2 Corinthians 4:8,9  Message … and there are many verses that highlight the fact of God’s defense system.

Imagine – for the prodigal we are praying for, God’s watching over until they come home. Or for the family emergency that doesn’t seem to be improving, God’s hand of restraint. Or in the desperate financial crisis, God always supplies just enough as it is needed. The answers are coming but until then…God is still there, unshakeable, unchangeable, and strong!

Something to ponder — be blessed!
