A Church with a Heart for our Community

August 3rd Wenesday

Greetings in the name of “the true sprouting vine” (John 15:1 TPT), Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Another beautiful summer morning in the Kingdom…so another opportunity to say “Thank You” to God for all things ‘bright and beautiful’. I will be praying for you today, asking Father to intercept you in the midst of life and draw you aside so that He can speak to you without any distractions.

This morning as I looked out our window, I noted that the grass needed cutting…again. It was just last week, after four weeks or so of very little growth, that it was cut. I had watched the grass turn golden brown under the hot weather’s influence and even though I knew the roots were waiting for the right conditions it was a little discouraging. However the recent rain and cloud cover has created fresh activity and the green-coloured army of grass has taken over. It was a surprise when God’s whispering voice said, “It’s revival!”

For nine years now a group of intercessors have been gathering once a week to pray for our city and county. We have many prayer topics: people in authority, people who serve our community, the church family, world situations, special Christian outreach, the prosperity of our community, peace in Jerusalem, but one of the main concerns we cry out to God for is – “REVIVAL!” There seems to be much ‘dryness’ in the Christian community…even though we know there is a ‘root system’ waiting for the right conditions – just like the crunchy, brown grass on our lawns.

Over the past few weeks at our prayer gathering, it seems as if God is stirring hearts and the words – “harvest” and “breakthrough” and “repentance” and “manifestation” and “brokenness” and “unity” and “pride” – are finding their way into prayers. I wonder if God was trying to encourage me this morning, telling me that if it is possible and happening right now in the natural world it is possible and ready to happen in the spiritual world as well. This morning in m devotional time I read: “I am the sprouting vine and you’re my branches. AS you live in union with me as your source, fruitfulness will stream from within you-but when you live separated fro me you are powerless–If you keep my commands, you will live in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands, for I continually live nourished and empowered by his love–And I will send you the Divine Encourager from the very presence of my Father…” – John 15:5, 10, 26a  The Passion Translation.

I am believing that the time of revival that we have been praying for, that we are anticipating, that we have been crying to God for…is very close to invading the churches in our city – community – county – surrounding area. We need to stay connected to the “Vine” and be obedient and be receptive to what He will send our way.

Be blessed! Enjoy the day! Pay attention to the Spirit!
