A Church with a Heart for our Community

August 2nd Tuesday

Greetings to you in the name of the One who is able to do much more than we can think or even ask, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Happy – August 2nd! Wow – a new month to explore and discover…and what a beautiful morning to greet us! I trust that you had a great weekend and Monday with with many nuances of God’s presence and activity in your life to reflect upon. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to encourage you and give you hope.

I have been listening to two new ‘cd’s’ …and one of the tracks really caught my attention. The song is called – Beautiful Messes by Hillary Scott and the chorus says: We ain’t perfect no-We ain’t even close-We got holes in our hearts-We got scars we don’t show-But all that baggage we-Keep on dragging around-Ain’t it time we start laying it. down- Lay it down at the foot of the cross-Give it to the one who can carry it all-Even at our worst, to him we ain’t lost causes-Just beautiful messes. Somehow, despite the grammar, the song resonates in my spirit and I really like the music that carries the words. There is one other short verse: So bring your thoughts, your flaws, your secrets-And watch him use those broken pieces.

I suppose I understand the song because I am one of those “beautiful messes” that God has seen fit to use. I am so thankful for that moment when I finally laid it down at the foot of the cross and He began a complete and total transformation that affected me – physically-mentally-emotionally-spiritually. I say that He began because I am one of those projects that requires a lot of ‘fine-tuning’…but He is persistently displaying his craftsmanship and continuing attention to detail.

Further to that, not only do I recognise how God is working in me, I see the beauty of His transforming love in the lives of other – ‘beautiful messes’. I hear the words of the Divine Architect: “The mess you see in you and in others is only momentary…For I know the plans I have for you…and for all the others.” So I’ll listen to the song and know it is really a personal testimony – the singer’s…and mine!

Be blessed!
