A Church with a Heart for our Community

June 7th Tuesday

Greetings to you in the name of “the Bread of Life”, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Another beautiful morning in the Kingdom…just a touch of “coolness” to remind us that this is still late spring. I trust that you had a great weekend and Monday with enjoyable – expected and unexpected experiences. I will be praying for you today, asking Father to encourage you as you walk out your faith in your daily rituals.

You never know what the simple act of turning over the page on your daily devotional calendar can do to your thought process. We have eight of these daily ‘flip-over’ calendars placed strategically throughout our home and it is always interesting how God chooses to speak. Some days there are eight different messages and God will impress one in your thoughts. On other days…can you believe this – all eight calendars carry the same theme expressed from varying perspectives. Anyway, this morning God chose one calendar to grab my attention with a quote: “With God there is always more unfolding, that what we glimpse of the divine is always exactly enough, and never enough.” – Kathleen Norris. I like that…God is always exactly enough, and yet, never enough. There is always “more” available!

Okay – there is more to this. Since I had never heard of the author before, I thought I should “google” the name and see what happens. Well, I spent 15 or 20 minutes getting to know someone…and I am intrigued . Kathleen has a few books out and I am going to look for two of them as I was challenged by some excerpts. There were three phrases that caused a bit of curiosity – [1] “doubt is the seed of faith” [2] “reconversion” [3] “refusal of joy”. In addition she quoted a Bible verse that I had not heard before. Jeremiah, the prophet, is addressing the people who were chasing after new spiritual experiences instead of getting closer to God, and he says: “Stop wearing out your shoes and getting dry mouths from running here and there to worship foreign gods. “Stop!” I shouted, but you replied, “No! I love those gods too much.”  Jeremiah 2:25 CEV.

I am so thankful to God for always being exactly enough, and yet, never enough. He always has more for us to discover about who He is and what He can do and who He uses to speak to people and where He can be found. Personally, I find that when I walk towards a deeper understanding of God my feet don’t get tired and I am constantly being refreshed. How about you – is God exactly enough, and yet, never enough?

Something to ponder – blessings on you!
