Greetings in the Name that is above every name, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! I trust that you have had a good week and are looking forward to the weekend…especially gathering with your family and friends to celebrate your faith. I know you have had your devotion times and read the Bible-prayed-worshipped – but you were on your own. There is something about gathering with others and having a united – I am not alone now – gathering. I believe that is what the writer to Hebrews has in mind when he/she says: Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Hebrews 10:23-25 NLT. Yes! the day of his return is drawing near … and our world needs to be put right. I will be praying for you today, asking Father to fill you with creative ideas of encouragement and with words of praise to share with your church family this weekend.
Whether we are ready or not the Christmas season is coming…already there are parades and parties and music and advertising coming at us. With all this comes a recoil reaction form people who express in their own words and way: Bah! humbug!…it is too commercialized…it is too materialistic…it is not like it used to be…etc. -etc. – etc.! It seems to me that we need to prepare ourselves and get out our wardrobe of kindness, generosity, love, good cheer, patience, and all that we need to be bright spirits in our own particular kingdom. I appreciate the advice that says: “Don’t let the world squeeze you into it’s mold” …”Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into to it without even thinking.” …”Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world…” Romans 12:2a – JBP/The Message/NIV. We are different, extraordinary people, who follow a different path and we can affect others in profound ways.
Something to ponder – be blessed and have a great weekend!
