Greetings in the name of Jesus, “Source of Eternal Salvation” (Hebrews 5:9) – THE Crucified and Risen Saviour! Another pleasant late Spring morning for us to enjoy and give praise to God for. I trust that all is well with you and that you had a good night’s rest. I will be praying for you today, asking Father to ‘surprise’ you with a blessing that will affirm his delight in you and allow you to respond to hmi accordingly.
Over the past weeks I have been learning how to see ‘more’ of God and the revelations/visions that he communicates to us through. All too often I am satisfied, even thrilled, to catch a glimpse, but when you start purposefully looking for more…wow! The challenge is to stay in the moment and let everything that is available to be seen come into focus. I can understand that that seems awkward but it is like walking into a beautiful garden and seeing a colourful rose bush and quickly exiting the garden while missing all the other flowers and shrubs. Truth be told, when you walk into a garden you are trying to capture as many images and details that you can.
In similar fashion, when you enter into a God-moment, where He is revealing images and vision to you it is important to gather as much detail as you can. You may like to read the Psalms, a book of vivid imagery as well as beautiful words. The Psalmist says that in order to gain all that is available, he (the Psalmist) focuses on the Lord as being at his right hand (16:8) and being in a spacious place with God (18:19). Next time you are reading Psalms “look” as well as “listen.” Then in the book of Daniel, chapter 7…try reading that and not how many times Daniel “looks” into the vision(s) – I count 8 times in the first 14 verses. And in Ephesians 1:17-18 the Apostle Paul prays that God would open the eyes of their heart so that they could see all that was available to them spiritually. It seems to me that we need to use our “eyes”, both physical and spiritual, to understand God’s activity and presence in our lives.
Of course, I must refer to music and song. We sing many hymns and songs and choruses that talk about what we “see” and that ask God to “open the eyes of our heart”. Just take a moment to reflect on some of your favourite musical selections, everything from “How great Thou art” to “I see the Lord, He is high and lifted up..” to “Abide with me” … in truth much of our ‘sung theology’ is based on sight-vision-revelation.
Something to think about – be blessed!
