Greetings in the name of the “Son of God” (John 1:34), Jesus Christ – THE Crucified and Risen Saviour! What a change in the weather this morning as we face the other side of Spring…but this is still the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! There will be warmer days ahead! Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to do with you what he is doing naturally with creation…revive – refresh – restore. May He do this supernaturally to you with the rain and warmth and wind of the Holy Spirit! May he ‘rattle your bones’!
I have been receiving daily email devotions on “Spiritual Leadership” by A.W. Tozer and the recent topic has been about preaching and the preacher. They have challenged me to do some soul-searching and have driven me deeper in my calling. Today the idea that as a preacher of God’s Word, I am not an ‘orator’ but a ‘prophet’ is stimulating my thought process with the conviction that a preacher has to ‘hear God’s voice, speaking to him’- so that he/she can be an effective ‘prophet’.
I have been listening to a new song that empowers the process and draws the ‘prophet’ into his/her calling. The words of the song: He needs no introduction when He comes into a room – He needs no man to defend His perfect ways – Cause He speaks for Himself – Yes, God speaks for Himself, His word stands alone – He is the seat of authority; righteousness, justice His throne – With a sword in His mouth, He will not be profaned – He is the Ancient of Days, the Name above names – The Lamb who was slain, God will speak for Himself … Kathryn Marquis. The ‘prophet’ has the authority to humble his/her self before God and in submission be – “God speaking for Himself.” to a world that is hungry and thirsty in a myriad of ways.
This is really quite amazing and powerful…for in 2 Corinthians 3:1-3, we are told that as we respond to God through faith in Jesus Christ we become “a letter from Christ” – we become “God speaking for Himself.” Therefore, you are a ‘prophetic voice’ wherever God places you – not an orator with fancy words or clever technique but “God speaking for Himself” through you.
Just a little something to think about…be blessed!
