Greetings in the name of “My Light and My Salvation” (Psalm 27:1) and in the name of Jesus Christ – THE Crucified and Risen Saviour! What a beautiful Spring morning and we give thanks to God! I trust that you are aware that God is communicating with you and is revealing ‘great and unsearchable things you do not know’ (Jeremiah 33:3b NIV). I will be praying for you today, asking Father to make you sensitive to his presence and his voice.
There are two ideas that I want to share with you. First, this is a “National Day of Prayer” and we are called to intercede for our nation. Yes, I know this is acknowledged in the United States first and foremost, but I believe we need to do that for our nation as well. Now, that being said, we have a responsibility to realize that every day is a day of prayer for those who are called to intercede for others…that means for every believer today is a day of prayer, for there are many around us who we are called to pray for and that is a daunting task. However, I came across a simple prayer format from Max Lucado: Father, you are good. They need help. I cannot, but you can. I can’t heal, but You can. I can’t forgive, but You can. I can’t help in this area, but You can….so here is: Bill or Sue or husband or wife or child or friend or __________. The thing is that you and I know these people in ways that others don’t and we can express their need for them.
Second, a quote: Many of us long for a return to the supernatural glory of the early church – healing, angelic protection, earthshaking prayer meetings, mass conversions, and missionary adventure. I want all of that. But, I want the real thing, not a poor imitation. If we want the presence of God, we need the reverence of God. J. Lee Grady. As I ponder those words, I hear the expression of a man after God’s heart: Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth. Psalm 96:9 NIV and then I hear the words of song: Let the beauty of Jesus be seen in me – All His wonderful passion and purity – O Thou Spirit divine all my nature refine – Till the beauty of Jesus be seen in me or : The beauty of the Lord is the splendor of Your holiness – The beauty of the Lord is all I could desire – For Your beauty leaves me breathless – Falling down and vowing only this – To spend my life on the beauty of the Lord – Kathryn Marquis.
Let me challenge you today – seek the beauty of God’s presence, allow that experience to transport you into His holiness, and then begin to intercede for your family and friends and community and yourself. I believe that if we want to access the power of God, we need to find a point of ‘reverence’ for God…and that is an experience that is available to each one who wants it.
Be blessed today!
