A Church with a Heart for our Community

May 5th Tuesday

Greetings in the name of God – “the Lifter of My Head” (Psalm 3:3) and in the name of Jesus Christ – THE Crucified and Risen Saviour! The first week of May and the earth is starting to’wake-up’ so that it can display the transforming power of God’s touch. I trust that you had an awesome weekend and Monday…and now you getting into the flow of this week, with all of its challenges and opportunities. I will be praying for you today, asking Father to release his transforming touch on you and through you to your situation.

As some of you may know, I like music – especially when it carries thought-provoking words. However I also like and value good quotations that can release ideas of revelation and create images. I came across one of those quotes recently and it is found in late 1600’s poem and it deals with living by faith and trust when there is no light – visible reason for doing so. It includes these simple words: There is in God (some say) a deep, but dazzling darkness: – Henry Vaughan, “The Night”. In context, it relates to Nicodemus’ visit to Jesus in John 2, but listen to these words: …Let him who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the LORD and rely on his God.  Isaiah 50:10 NIV. It is followed by a warning about…not lighting your own fire, in verse 11.

I know that many times life gets complicated and we seem to be groping for handholds along our path, as we walk in darkness and there are times when we really need someone to turn on the ‘light’ so we can see where we are going. However, I also know that when I place my trust in God during those dark times – He (God) dazzles us with inner peace and calm and courage. I must confess that there have been times, too many I would say, when I tried to do things my way – to create my own light – and it has not been to my benefit.

I wonder this morning if there is someone reading this, or someone you know, who needs to be encouraged with…“…trust in the name of the LORD and rely on your God…” I know that this seems to run counter to expectations and offers little sensible or tangible solutions but when one is in the “dark”, having a hand to hold – that is going to hold you…sounds good.

Be blessed today!
