A Church with a Heart for our Community

March 31st Tuesday

Greetings in the name of Jehovah Rohi – “The Lord My Shepherd” (Psalm 23:1) and the great “Shepherd of the Sheep”, Jesus Christ – who is also the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world (John 1:29) as THE Crucified and Risen Saviour! What a morning – the last one of March – is it lion or lamb? The snow is really fluffy! I trust that you had a good weekend and experienced God’s presence in very particular ways. Today I will be praying for you, asking “Jehovah Rohi” to lead you into wide open places of blessing.

Many thoughts stir my heart as I ponder alone – Many places attract me with charms all their own – But the thought of all thoughts is of Christ crucified – The place of all places, the hill where he died …Albert Orsborn. Those words are in my heart today as the journey of Lent brings us ever closer to Calvary and that ‘old rugged cross’. Each of us, I am sure has our own particular Easter thought that brings us comfort and challenge as it re-orientates our life.

There are two pictures of Jesus’ disciples during those final days. One is of Peter – the ‘deny-er’, the one who chose to follow at a distance. At that point Peter was struggling with the fear of openly identifying himself as belonging to the flock of the shepherd, Jesus. The other picture is of John standing helplessly at the foot of the cross, ready to be of service as needed – but he was there by love’s choice. Again at Easter as believers in Christ the world is watching us. We have to make our choice do we pursue closely, accepting is love…or at a distance with our fears.

God’s people have always had a choice. I am going to leave you with an exercise. First, you look up a Bible passage about making choices. Second, you read that passage several times and put yourself into it. Third, you make the choice that gives you peace. The verses are: Joshua 24:15 ; Galatians 1:10 ; 1 Peter 3:14-16. When you reading the last passage, consider who the author is and how powerful, therefore, the words are.

Have a safe and blessed day!
