Greetings in the name of the “Shepherd of Israel” (Psalm 80:1) and Jesus Christ – THE Crucified and Risen Saviour! What a lovely morning to be under the care of ‘the Shepherd.’ I trust that all is well in your world and that you been experiencing the goodness of God in all areas of your life. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to release His strength as you take joy in him.
I have been challenged in my reading to consider some descriptions of God’s character that I wouldn’t normally think of using. One word to identify a quality of character that I found quite intriguing was: “cunning.” I don’t think I have ever heard someone describe Father-Son-Holy Spirit as ‘cunning, and yet Jesus did say that as his followers we are to be ‘cunning’…”shrewd as snakes” Matthew 10:16 … in a world that is filled with danger and ambiguities. Therefore, I suppose that it makes sense that it would be a character trait that he possessed. So, I followed the author’s trail and in two, of several, references I began to see the ‘cunning of God.’
Now there is something to meditate on today. This morning, I experienced a kind of practical cunningness of God. He woke me up at “3:33 am” which I believe is in the last watch of the night – a time when unknown to our consciousness we are preparing for the day that is coming. I have come to understand that “3:33” – at least to me, is referring to the Bible passage: Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come… NLT … Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know … NIV. I spent a restless time between sleep and “calling out – asking” until I finally woke up at – “6:33 am” — and I sensed that I was being told “Matthew 6:33” – Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need … NLT.
I am starting to see how God, with great ‘cunning’, ties experiences and dreams/visions to His word so that we can understand His still small voice. God, our Holy God, is very shrewd in communicating with us — the Creator knows how to “download” information to his creation. Perhaps it is time to re-evaluate the random events that we call “coincidences”…could it e that God is “cunningly” interacting with us?
Be blessed!
