A Church with a Heart for our Community

January 9th Friday

Greetings in the name of “the Lord your God who is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes” Deuteronomy 10:17…and in the name of Jesus Christ – THE Crucified and Risen Saviour! What a beautiful morning in the Kingdom…did I mention that I like snow? I trust that you had a great week and enjoyed all of God’s goodness…I am praying for you today, asking Father to prepare you to be His sanctuary – a place for his Glory to be made manifest.

This morning I was up early to shovel snow so that I could be on the road for a morning appointment and I was trying to be observant of my surroundings.I felt that I was wrapped up in a quiet majesty…no one else was about. Then driving along as the first light of day began creeping across the landscape was an “aha!” moment. I was reminded of a series of quotations by John Henry Jowett: “[God] brings us out of our small imprisonments and sets our feet in a large place”…”…faith is doing God’s will and quietly leaving the results to him”…”he that believes–shall not panic, neither fetching fears from his yesterdays nor from his tomorrows”…”we exchange the tent for the sky and live and move is great, spacious thoughts of his purposes and will.”

It really is amazing what God can communicate to you…if He can somehow get your attention! I heard recently that God matches our small steps towards him with large steps by him towards us. In fact, there are at least 5 or 6 references in the Bible to God bringing us to “wide open places/spaces” and another reference to God putting “boundary lines in pleasant places.” Our responsibility is to “take off our shoes for the ground you are standing on is holy!” or, in other words, remove that which would hinder or limit your ability to draw close to God so that He can lead you to  “wide open places.”

Just something to think about…be blessed and have a great weekend!
