A Church with a Heart for our Community

January 8th Thursday

Greetings in the name of the Living God who is in our midst (Joshua 3:10) and the grace of Jesus Christ – THE Crucified and Risen Saviour! What a beautiful morning after the winter storminess of yesterday. I trust that you and yours had safety and protection in your travelling…it sure was an interesting day! I will be praying for you today, asking Father to reveal Himself to you in ways that you are aware of, can understand, and are able to respond to.

This morning as I was driving to the office I was pondering how the weather had placed limitations on planned/scheduled events and that it seemed like a day lost. There had been so many things I had wanted to do. However, God suggested that my thinking had not been ‘stormed-in’ and that my listening heart was available and that my seeking spirit was operational. God  wondered if I had been so focused on the ‘day’ and what wasn’t right – that I had missed His nuances. Now that kind of challenged me and I re-traced my day to see if there had been some “G-mails” that been sent and received and not opened…and there was!

I have been seeking direction and asking for His guidance…it is the best guidance you can get! Not only did He gently infiltrate my thoughts, but He gave me an object lesson that I completely missed. He had followed that with a few devotional thoughts that dropped “bread crumbs” on my trail and He had inserted pointed conversations and stirred some unsettledness within…but I was too pre-occupied. So this morning He began all over again…and He did it in a way that I would understand. He brought to my mind phrases from two songs that I have a special relationship with: “Give us a day of wonders – Jehovah, bare thine arm – Pour out thy Holy Spirit – Make known thy healing balm – Give blessings without number – Supply us from thy store – Dear Saviour richly bless us – Baptize us more and more” – John Lawley — and then: “What a work the Lord has done -By his saving grace – Let us praise him every one – In his holy place – He has saved us gloriously – Led us onward faithfully – Yet he promised we should see – Even great things: Greater things! Greater things! – Give us faith, O Lord, we pray – Faith for greater things.” – Albert Orsborn.

God, then graciously, and purposefully, took me to the Bible so that I could focus on a verse: If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; but when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed.  Proverbs 29:18  The Message. Now, I must say that God doesn’t give us all the answers and ins-and-outs in a neat little package, but He does give some good advice: Ask ( and keep on asking) and it will be given to you; seek (and keep on seeking) and you will find; knock (and keep on knocking) and the door will be opened to you.  Matthew 7:7  NIV. This morning – if you are stuck in life, can’t find the answers or directions, if the way seems blocked, and you are beating yourself up – ready to concede defeat…STOP: focus on God, see what He is doing, hear what He is saying, and walk through what He is opening up. Allow God to give you a day of wonders!

Be blessed!
