A Church with a Heart for our Community

January 7th Wednesday

Greetings in the name of – “I AM”, not just God the Father, but the Great ‘I AM’, Jesus Christ – THE Crucified and Risen Saviour!  What a great winter’s morning with all of the snow that reminds us of so many truths from the Bible and Christian music. I know it is a little inconvenient at the moment but things will get sorted. I trust that you and yours are safe and warm…so that you can watch God paint His creation with white dimensional colours and the varying shades. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to hold you close and assure you of His awesomeness.

This morning as I read the devotional emails coming my way, there are three themes that seem to have captured the focus of people; the uncertainty of the days ahead, the fear that that brings, and the need for an effective treatment for this uncertainty and fear. I want to pass on the scriptural anchor points given for you to ponder. First, in reference to uncertainty: When God wanted to guarantee his promises, he gave his word, a rock-solid guarantee–God can’t break his word. And because his word cannot change, the promise is likewise unchangeable.  Hebrews 6:17  The Message. Please let the word “unchangeable” rest in your thinking for a moment or two.

Second, in reference to fear. You probably know that God addresses the issue of fear over 350 times in the Bible, but in particular He says – “Do not fear” over 100 times. God, it seems, knows that there will be fear in the world even though He is in control. Twice in one Psalm we read these words: In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid.  Psalm 56:4, 10-11  NIV.

Third, in reference to an effective treatment, Mother Teresa of Calcutta suggested to Henri Nouwen: “Well, when you spend one hour a day adoring your Lord and never do anything wrong … you will be fine!” God’s word declares: I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains? No, my strength comes from GOD, who made heaven, and earth, and mountains.  Psalm 121: 1,2  The Message.

Be blessed!
