A Church with a Heart for our Community

June 13th Tuesday

Greeting in the name that is above ALL names, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! What a beautiful morning in the Kingdom – lovely sunshine and warmer temperatures and a gentle breeze. It is a pleasure to declare that “this is the day that the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it!” I trust you had a blessed weekend and Monday…are you ready for the week ahead? I have it on good authority that there are going to be answers to prayers and possibly a “breakthrough moment” for someone. I will be praying that your heart and mind is open to what God is ready to do for you.

It is really interesting the methods that God will use to speak to you. Between last night and this morning He used a television commercial to affirm words that I spoke at a funeral service yesterday. I have been sharing a thought at almost every funeral service. I will tell the listeners that in their grief and sorrow God wants to give them peace-comfort-hope, and that He does so with a “word.” The word that He gives is, of course, “Jesus.” However, I was questioning myself if that was a good statement and if it conveyed a truth for someone to hang onto.

So, watching a television program last night a commercial appeared, for about the sixth or seventh time, and this morning God made sure that I fully understood. You probably have seen the commercial – it is for an insurance company and it is highlighting the importance of having an insurance agent. It is a game format and one family is being represented by an insurance agent and the other family by an insurance policy. The insurance agent is asked a question about the insurance needs of the family, to which he gives a good response. Then the insurance policy is asked a question about the second family’s insurance coverage, to which there is no reply. It is obvious an agent can speak and a policy cannot.

I am so glad that God’s Word says…”that God so loved the world that He sent his only begotten Son…’ – ah! yes, you know the verse. God sent a person, his Son and not a piece of paper…not the ten commandments, not a “God mail” or a text message, not a program – but a person. And not just any person but one who became ‘flesh and blood’, that moved into our neighborhood-our lives, He sent a person who understands the complexity of human needs and emotions and pain. He sent Jesus! God spoke to my heart and reassured me that the best message that I can share with people is that His answer to our sorrow and grief and hurt and pain – is in fact a ‘word’, well a ‘name’ really – “Jesus!”

As the song says…”I just want to speak the name of Jesus over you!” – be blessed.
