Greetings in the name that continues to change lives, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! Let us thank God for all of His blessings and make our daily declaration – “This is the day that the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it!” I trust that you a grand weekend, enjoyed the late spring weather, had time to ‘visit with family and friends, and had some moments just for yourself.
On Sunday, I believe that God was moving in our worship service as we spent time looking at the Holy Spirit. The spiritual atmosphere of Sunday often lingers over the Monday Prayer time…and there was a definite “presence” in the sanctuary as we gathered to intercede for our city. I want to share that for the second week, one of our group shared a “word from God” for our church. The message was that there was a spiritual awakening coming to our community and that was going to begin at our location. It seems odd to me that that would be the case…but for fifteen years we have been hosting the Monday Prayer Time and for fifteen years we have been praying for a spiritual awakening….and we will continue to do that. So, whatever God wants to do, I will surrender to that.
Today is the 141st birthday of a song that was written, according to the author, who happened to be blind, in five minutes and did not even need to be edited. The song happens to be one of my favorites and I needed to be reminded of it this morning and I want to share it with you:
I rest my weary soul in thee
I give thee back the life I owe
That in thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be
I yield my flickering torch to thee
My heart restores its borrowed ray
That in thy sunshine’s blaze its day
May brighter, fairer be
I cannot close my heart to thee
I trace the rainbow through the rain
And feel the promise is not vain
That morn shall tearless be
I dare not ask to fly from thee
I lay in dust’s life’s glory dead
And from the ground there blossoms red
Life that shall endless be
