Greetings to you in the beautiful, wonderful, and powerful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! What a ‘promising’ Spring morning…not sure what it is promising but – “this is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!” This morning I will be praying for you, asking Father to bless you with health, strength, a happy heart, and bright hopes…may you sense His presence…may you ‘hear’ Him communicating to you.
This morning I have been reminded of the first time I held The Message translation of the Bible in my hands. I began my journey with this translation by looking at some of my favorite verses…and for some reason, I chose and was captured by a familiar passage. I read: “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me–watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30 The Message.
I was challenged then as I am right by the underlined phrase. It is so important to develop and nurture a personal, intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. The key benefit of this relationship, as you will note, is experiencing…”a real rest.” This morning I need to pause, reflect, and repent…for not taking the time to simply “be” with Jesus.
