A Church with a Heart for our Community

March 30th Wednesday

Greeting to you…recipient of God’s grace that forgives, transforms, delivers, and rescues – the grace given through Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior1  I look outside this morning and all that I can say is  – “this is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it.!” Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to affirm His presence to you as He responds to your prayers…may He guide and direct your steps…and may you feel His love.

In one of my devotions a song was referenced and as I did not know the song – a search began and I found it, so I want to share it with you:  Trust Him when dark doubts assail thee-Trust Him when thy strength is small-Trust Him when to simply trust Him-Seems the hardest thing of all // Trust Him, He is ever faithful-Trust Him, for His will is best-Trust Him, for the heart of Jesus-Is the only place of rest // Trust Him through cloud or sunshine-All thy cares upon Him cast-Till the storms of life are over-And the trusting days are past. This little verse was written by “anonymous” – who has penned many a quote or verse.

Now, just to add another thought – there was a song performed at the Oscars that carried a similar note of faith. The verse went like this: “So you feel like you’ve run out of hope-Carrying all that weight-Your back’s about to break-And you’re standing at the end of your rope-You want to give up the fight-You see no relief in sight-And it’s hard to keep the faith-But the darkest night still finds the day.” And then the chorus: “When you think it’s the end of the road-It’s just because you don’t know where the road’s leading to-When you think the mountain’s too high-And the ocean’s too wide, you’ll never get through-Some way, somehow, somehow you do.” And then a bridge verse: “Because it’s those times, it’s those times when things get bad-You’ll find the strength you didn’t know you even had-Somehow you’ll get through this.” The song was performed by Reba McEntire.

I think it was in a song…hymn by Annie Johnson Flint, that we find these words: “When we have exhausted our store of endurance-When our strength has failed ere the day is half done-When we reach the end of our hoarded resources-Our Father’s full giving is only begun.”  These three songs were just what I needed to be reminded of today…sometimes our faith in God isn’t about our strength and ability but it is about our weakness and His ability.

Just a little something to ponder…be blessed
