A Church with a Heart for our Community

October 7th Thursday

Greetings to you – my fellow-adventurers in the Kingdom…in the name of the One who knows the way and lights the way with truth, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! Another one of those ‘fall mornings’ in the Kingdom and a perfect opportunity to declare – “This is the day that the Lord has made…so rejoice and be glad in it!” I trust that all is well with you and yours and that you have been experiencing God’s presence and blessings. This morning I will be praying for you, asking Father to release grace…amazing grace to meet the demands of your life…may you know His peace that is beyond understanding…may you be filled with hope and joy…and may you experience His touch bringing wholeness.

I have been reminded of an annoying habit I have in my prayer time. I run into the presence of the all-knowing and all-powerful One to seek wisdom-direction-guidance-strength…but, I recklessly let my emotions spill-out in expressions of concern and demands and discontent. Now there is nothing wrong in doing that…in fact, it is healthy, but I find myself doing most of the talking, I don’t take time to listen. Why do I do that – I wonder. Perhaps it is because to listen requires being still – and that is a little uncomfortable. I think of my friend, the Psalmist, who in a moment of insight asked himself…”O my soul, why are you so downcast? Why are you so disturbed?” Psalm 42:5,11. He responded to his questioning with an answer…”Put your hope in God, getting ready to praise Him, for He will save you and comfort you – as your Savior and your God.”  Psalm 42:5,11.

This is one of those moments when I am drawn to truths that give stability to my faith – I believe Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever – He has gone before us and He is present with us and He is guarding us from our yesterdays.

Have a blessed day!
