Greetings to you in the beautiful, wonderful, and powerful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! Well!…this isn’t the sort of day that we were looking forward to, but this is still the day that the Lord has made for us – and – we will rejoice and be glad in it! I trust that you have had a good week with many blessings to think about and talk about. Are you looking forward to the weekend, wondering what kind of adventures are coming your way? Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to surround you with grace and mercy, strengthen you with His joy, and show you the way to still waters and green pastures.
This is “Father’s Day” weekend…and it can be a “bittersweet” time, a mixture of conflicting and often confusing memories. However, I encourage you to think about the Father who truly loves you, who knows you like no one else, and who is there for us… 365/24/7. I understand that even that relationship can be strained at times because we have a mind of our own. Over the last week or two we have been enjoying a song with a very personal chorus that expresses profound truth. Let me share it with you: I run to the Father-I fall into grace-I’m done with the hiding-No reason to wait-My heart needs a surgeon-My soul needs a friend-So I’ll run to the Father-Again and again-And again and again.
When the chorus is sung for the finale of the song, the words change slightly as we make a bold declaration…My heart found a surgeon-My soul found a friend. If you take some time to think the words through…can you remember what it was like…is like – to run to the Father? Maybe this weekend, as you ponder Father’s Day – it might be the time to do just that…once is never enough – we do it again and again and again!
I can imagine the Father’s response…Settle down, “I have heard your prayers. I have seen your tears. I have watched as you stood on shaking legs that felt like they couldn’t take another step. Though the enemy works to steal, kill, and destroy, my glory has made you strong. It is time for you to see what I can do. It’s time for you to cross the threshold of opposition and step into the joy of breakthrough. Now is the time to be joyfully expectant, to allow yourself to be filled with anticipation. It’s time to be confident, not because I do everything the way you think I will, but because you trust me to do things my way. Anchor yourself in my promises, and soon you’ll see the fruit of what I’ve already put into action behind the scenes. You will be astounded at the victory I am releasing and pleasantly bewildered by the way I bring these things to pass.” Whispers Brian Simmons and Gretchen Rodriguez.
Have a good day…be blessed!
