A Church with a Heart for our Community

June 16th Wednesday

Greetings to you in the sweetest name I know…Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! What a beautiful late Spring morning – obviously this must be another one of those “given days” – a day that the Lord has made for us because He so enjoys it when we are rejoicing and being glad! I trust that you had a good week-end and are enjoying the early part of this week wherever you find yourself. This morning I will be praying for you, asking Father to surround you with affirmations of His love, kindness, goodness, and peace…may He come and share the weight of any burden or concern that you might be carrying…may He apply the healing balm of His presence to you.

This morning one of my devotional readings reminded me about the importance of the little moments of our lives…a person’s character is formed in ten thousand little, mundane moments of everyday life – Paul David Tripp, ‘New Morning Mercies’. It is what happens in those little moments that will shape how we react and act in the big moments that come our way.

As I pondered that insight I was reminded about all the “little moments” that are recorded in the Gospels that are reflected in the interactions between Jesus and the individuals that were in his life. One incident was highlighted in another devotional…just a little moment. It happened in a quiet place, away from the crowds, away from the schedule…just a little moment that someone could have missed writing about. Jesus asked his disciples…who do people think I am?…and then he follows up with another question…who do you believe I am? Luke 9:18-20  TPT.

I think that it is interesting that Jesus wants to know in the little moments of our life…who do we believe him to be? We are surrounded by voices that try to influence and guide our perceptions to who they think Jesus is, but what is really important is who do we believe Him to be in the daily routine of our lives with all of it’s bits and pieces.

Who do we believe Jesus is when people are annoying us? Who do we believe Jesus is when we want things to go our way? Who do we believe Jesus is when we are angry at someone? Who do we believe Jesus is when resentment or bitterness creeps into our thoughts? Who we believe Jesus is when we are being critical or giving a snippy response? Who do we believe Jesus to be in one of those thousand of little moments we experience?

Just a little something to ponder…have a blessed day!
