Greetings to you…the one who is precious in His sight…in the name of the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! What a beautiful day in the Kingdom – and we have been given the opportunity to see it and experience all that it holds for us. Surely this is – “the day that the Lord has made for us to rejoice and be glad in it!” This morning I will be praying for you, asking Father to – bless you and keep you….to smile upon you and satisfy your hunger and thirst – what a gift!…to look you full in your face with acceptance and approval…to prosper you and to restore you!
This morning as I was travelling through my devotion time, God brought to my thoughts the words of a song: Jesus, tender lover of my soul-Pardoner of my sins, and friend indeed-Keeper of the garden of my heart-Jesus, thou art everything to me — What to me are all the joys of earth?-what to me is every sight I see-Save the sight of thee, O Friend of mine?-Jesus, thou art everything to me — Edward Henry Joy.
Next, He (God) highlighted a verse that I was reading: He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. – Matthew 8:17. I must confess that I had not noticed the use of “He Himself” before and it adds a very personal, almost intimate touch. It was Jesus, Himself who moves into our lives to bring healing. When we are praying for healing…it isn’t just some energy or force or whatever that comes…it is the Healer that comes – it is Jesus Himself that comes. I remembered that we sing that little chorus…I am the God that heals thee – we are affirming the fact that He doesn’t send healing or give health but that He is our healing and He is our health.
I thought of all the other names that God uses to describe Himself…He is our strength – He is our shield – He is our peace – He is our more than enough – He is our provider. Just think, He doesn’t simply give us strength or protection or peace or provision or meet our needs…He Himself is strength and a shield and peace and provision and all that we need.
I suppose that one of the benefits of lockdown and stay-at-home is the opportunity to grow our relationship with God…Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Hence the song that means much to me…Jesus, thou art everything to me!
Something to ponder
