Greetings to you…apple of His eye…in the beautiful, wonderful, and powerful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! Another beautiful Spring morning in the Kingdom and another opportunity to rejoice and be glad in the presence of the One who made this day. I know that it may sound a little repetitive to use the same greeting each time I send this blog out but this day is brand new and according to the Bible it brings new, never been offered to us before…mercies, blessings, spiritual gifts – so enjoy! This morning I will be praying for you, asking Father to guide and direct you through this day…may He give you peace beyond your understanding and joy that you cannot keep to yourself and grace that enables you to be the best version of yourself you can be.
This would be day 46 of our journey to Pentecost and the birthday for the church. However, as some of you may know the Jewish feast of ‘Shauvot” ended at sundown last night. Shauvot celebrates the giving of God’s Word, the Torah, to the Jewish people. The Torah is God’s instructions for everyday life and Hillel the elder when asked to sum up the Torah said, “That which is hateful to you, don’t do to someone else.” In simple words…”be nice!”
It seems that the goal of God’s Word is to remind us to be kind…in the simple things we do everyday. Perhaps that is why one of the traditions that highlight Shauvot is the reading of the Book of Ruth…all eighty-five verses. ‘Kindness” is revealed throughout Ruth’s story. By the way, I took the opportunity this morning to read Ruth from the Passion Translation…what a delightful story of small acts of human kindness that have a large impact – Ruth is the great-grandmother of David and therefore directly related to Jesus Christ. You never know what small acts of kindness will mean in people’s lives,
In commenting about Shauvot, Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, says that it is about accepting the Bible all over again and one way to do that while affirming the theme is to make it a goal to do one extra act of kindness each day for one month. – Holy Land Moments.
In similar fashion, on Pentecost Sunday, we will once again welcome Holy Spirit to our lives, once again we receive His empowerment, and are reminded to do and to be people who bear the fruit of the Spirit…love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. – Galatians 5:22,23.
Something to consider…have a “fruitful” day! and be blessed…
