A Church with a Heart for our Community

May 12th Wednesday

Greetings to you in the “sweetest name I know”, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! What a beautiful Spring morning in the Kingdom!   This is what they call a “given day” and certainly it is “the day that the Lord has made, so we will rejoice and be glad in it!” I trust that on this middle of the week day that all is well in your world and with your family. This morning I will be praying for you, asking Father to speak a blessing over you of health, hope, and happiness…may He respond to the cry of your heart…may you know His shalom-peace all around you.

This is a special day in our home today…it was sixteen years ago that we moved into this house and God came along to make it our “home.” So, on a morning like this, I was looking for something special in my devotions…a “G(od)mail” or something like that. Of course, God did not disappoint! He sent a Scripture passage and a quote and, oddly enough, not a song!

First, let me share His Word with you, or at least three phrases: Be skilled at gently encouraging…Be faithful to stand your ground…Be quick to demonstrate patience with everyone  –  1 Thessalonians 5:14  TPT. What a grand challenge! I so appreciate the Passion Translation’s handling of these admonitions.

Second, here is the quote: By grace we see what we see. To have faith is to respond to what we see by longing for it the rest of our days; by trying to live up to it and toward it through all the wonderful and terrible things; by breathing it in like air and growing strong on it; by looking to see it again and see it better. – Frederick Buechner.

As I was writing this God, in His wisdom, did give me a song to listen to in my spirit: O the peace our Savior gives – Peace we never knew before – And our way has brighter grown – As we learned to trust Him more and more!

Have a great day…be blessed!
