A Church with a Heart for our Community

March 31st Wednesday

Greetings to you in the Name above all names, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! This morning is a wonderful opportunity to exercise our faith and declare…”This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and we will be glad in it!” Today we get to say “good-bye” to the month of March and get ready to begin a new month…it is a transition day. I suppose it is a subtle reminder that God does not stand still, He likes to keep moving…whether we are ready or not. This morning I will be praying for you, asking Father to surround you with an awareness of His presence and TLC…may He give you grace to ‘move forward’ with him…may He remind you that all those things you were worrying about have been looked after…may He allow the sunshine and spring rain to bring new growth in your life…may He bring you his peace – shalom peace.

As we walk the last steps of our Lenten journey, the shadow of the cross  becomes more defined…a reminder that we are nearing our destination. Are you ready to visit Calvary once again and to experience the emotions that come with it? It is a moment of divine tension to visit a place of defeat that resonates with such victory…a place synonymous with death that radiates with life and possibility.

Now, about the shadow of the cross…you know, of course, that to have a shadow there must be a light source and an obstacle to block the light’s power. In this case. we know that obstacle was the cross and the light source originates from the empty tomb. I think that we have become so familiar with the story that we don’t really experience the effect as we once did. In fact, I believe that a times in our lives the shadow becomes overwhelming…we forget that as “Easter people” there is always the light of the empty tomb behind the obstacles that cause the shadow.

A few weeks ago I reminded you of the chorus…”Standing somewhere in the shadows you’ll find Jesus!”…and the best part of that is that it is true! Just when we think we are defeated…there is victory! Where our dreams and hopes have died there is life and living hope! Easter reminds us that there is an empty tomb just behind the cross.

Something to ponder…be blessed!
