A Church with a Heart for our Community

March 11th Thursday

Greetings to you…loved, accepted, forgiven, and  recipient of God’s grace through the marvelous name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! What a lovely late winter morning in the Kingdom! This, obviously, is the day that the Lord has made and we are going to rejoice and be glad in it. Although the color of the day is a little drab there are subtle signs of growth as earth “groans” in “eager expectation” of Spring. Isn’t it exciting to see creation waking-up? This morning I will be praying for you, asking Father to reveal Himself to you in creation…may He stir your heart and mind and spirit to begin waking up to a new season…may He release fresh energy and strength…may He bring healing and health.

This morning, by my reckoning, we are at day 20 of the Lenten journey…how is your trek to Easter going? have you had any serendipitous moments? have you learned anything new about yourself? This morning, as much as we are on this adventure with many others, I am aware that  our experience is uniquely personal and as such private…and lonely. I read a quote – Great eagles fly alone, great lions hunt alone, and great souls walk alone…alone with God.

As I ponder that thought. I am reminded of a few songs for the journey…I must needs go home by the way of the cross – there is no other way – Jessie Pounds ; Lead me, Lord. to Calvary – Jennie Hussey ; I have decided to follow Jesus…Though none go with me still I will follow – S. Sundar Singh. Note the use of the personal pronouns…I, me, I me – we can sing them in corporate worship times but they carry a personal decision and devotion and declaration.

WE are all on a Lenten journey and it is unique and personal to us even if we are surrounded by others. When we get to the end of our Lenten journey we will celebrate together but there will be treasure special moments when we spent time in the presence of Jesus. Let me encourage you to “journal” these memories so you share with someone else or revisit on your own when needed.

Have a blessed day!
